SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Transport and Public Works of the Government of the Canary Islands, Sebastián Franquis, regretted this Wednesday the consequences of the ‘Mediator case’ that investigates a possible corrupt plot linked to livestock inspections and the granting of European aid.
“As a socialist, it makes me ashamed and very angry to see what is happening, and very sad,” he said in statements to ‘Cope Canarias’ collected by Europa Press, stressing that the government and the party have acted “immediately”. since the facts became known, requesting resignations and opening the corresponding files.
Franquis, who is the general secretary of the Socialists of Gran Canaria, has insisted on his “surprise, shame and sadness” at “everything that is coming out” and has made it clear that neither the Executive nor the party knew “nothing” about the alleged corrupt plot.
The counselor has commented that he has no doubts that if the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, “had had any knowledge of this nature”, he would have acted, even going to court, as he did last summer with the dismissal due to loss of confidence of the then General Director of Livestock, Tayshet Fuentes, who was arrested in this operation.
