SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 20 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The CC-PNC group of the Cabildo de Tenerife has requested to resume the educational action plan for early training of children and young people and their corresponding educational agents with the aim of training and raising awareness about the importance of tourism in Tenerife.
The nationalist councilor Diana Mora will defend a motion in the plenary commission next Friday to resume awareness-raising activities in educational centers. “The PSOE eliminated the #YoSoyTenerife campaign and turned it into a photo album with no content,” she said.
For Diana Mora, “we must promote a positive vision of tourism as an opportunity for a better future, with training based on the use of different materials and techniques that help inform and raise awareness about sustainable and environmental tourism and its importance in protecting of our territory for the enjoyment of present and future generations. Tourism generates 40% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generates thousands of direct and indirect jobs and it is our duty to take care of it”.
“Nobody is in favor of the destruction of the territory. It is just the opposite: we must take advantage of the natural resources that Tenerife offers to promote psychosocial skills in boys and girls of their age, promoting values such as kindness and empathy, as well as as the care and protection of people and the environment that surrounds us,” he added.
The CC-PNC counselor explained that the objective of the campaign is to “promote awareness of the places with the greatest historical, heritage and landscape interest on the island, with special emphasis on those that represent the identity values of Canarian culture, for their understanding, dissemination and enjoyment within the family unit”. Diana Mora pointed out that it is also necessary to “recognize the importance of languages in the tourism sector, promoting their early initiation because we live in a globalized world.”
