He Garachico Town Hall will manage in this year 2023 the largest budget in its history. municipal resources increase by 18.28% compared to 2022 and reach the figure of €6,043,488. The recovery of income, greatly diminished by Covid in 2020 and 2021, allows the town to increase expenses, despite the general increase in prices in recent months.
The mayor of Garachico, Jose Heriberto Gonzalez (CC)emphasizes that these budgets will be “much more expansive”, which will allow improvements in subsidies and aid to the different groups, clubs and associations of the municipality, “whose work indisputably contributes to the cultural, sports and social development of Garachico”. González details that “if we have maintained the lines of subsidies in difficult and restrictive times from an economic point of view, now that the budget is growing, we understand that this item must also grow, which now amounts to 256,000 euros”.
This chapter on subsidies and aid reserves almost 35,000 euros to sports entities. The assigned amounts are based, as explained by the mayor, on criteria such as “size, history, budget, number of partners or components, volume of activities or training schools.” The beneficiary entities will be the Royal Sports Club Gara (13,000 euros), El Roque Basketball Club (8,000 euros), Veterans Gara (900 euros), the AC Cyclist Cachibache (1,000 euros), the ACD El Lamero Roque Garaof dominoes (1,000 euros), the CD Ayoze Rodriguez (1,000 euros), the CD Podona Trail (1,500 euros), the Prakan North Tenerife CD (2,000 euros), Garachico EMT Tennis (1,200 euros), the futsal team Simpsons of El Guincho (1,000 euros), the Los Culegas Barcelona Supporters Club (600 euros), the CD Gigantsport (1,500 euros) and the Garapateo Hiking AC (600 euros).
In the municipal budget there is also a budget provision for aid to individual athletes, “which will be governed by some bases that will come out in a next call, once the budget is definitively approved,” reports Jose Heriberto Gonzalez.

For its contribution to the development of such an important event for Garachico as the San Roque Pilgrimage, the City Council wants to financially support the Traditional Association of Carreteros. “Last year was the first time that the city council contributed to them with the payment of the crane and in this 2023 we want to go one step further by helping them to a greater extent because they are a fundamental element for the organization and smooth running of the event”, he advances. Garachico allocates for the first time specific economic items for the associations of parents of students from centers in the municipality.
