SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 20 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canary Islands Coalition has described the Canary Islands Government’s management of European funds for reconstruction as “irresponsible” and has indicated that “instead of sticking out their chests, what they should do is more self-criticism and work more”.
This was stated by the nationalist party following the publication of the report by the Valencian Institute for Economic Research (Ivie), which places the Archipelago at the bottom in the management of the Next Generation funds of the European Union.
The nationalists pointed out that the report confirming that the Achipiélago is among the autonomous communities that are going at a slower pace in the execution of structural funds “only confirms what the business fabric has been denouncing for months and denying the Government.”
Likewise, they demanded that the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, undertake “the necessary changes so that the resources pass from the public coffers to the business fabric and fulfill the task for which the European Union devised them”.
In this sense, from CC they assure that it is not “a problem of lack of personnel, nor of deadlines, they have had more than two years to do it, it is a problem of lack of work and the inability to manage the Canarian Government ” .
The nationalists demanded “rigor and transparency” from the Torres Executive who, they say, “have been left alone defending the management of resources aimed at dealing with the consequences of the covid and reactivating the economy that the employers themselves have denounced in more than an occasion that does not come and that reports such as the one published by the Ivie confirm it”.
In this sense, they point out that it is clear that “the least this government knows is numbers” because the accounts “do not add up, the government is lying or economic agents and entities such as the Ivie are lying,” they concluded.
