The remodeling works of Las Eras and Los Roques will end in summer

The two works for the remodeling and adaptation of the coastline in the municipality of Fasnia that are currently underway, on Los Roques beach and the Las Eras breakwater, will be completed in the summer of 2023.

This has been stated by the president of the Cabildo de TenerifePedro Martín, in a recent visit to both locations, in which he was accompanied by the mayor of the municipality, Luis Javier gonzalezand the insular director of Tourism, Laura Castro.

“One of the main objectives that we set ourselves from the Cabildo in the management of the coast of Tenerife was the recovery of traditional spaces: those beaches that needed improvement, the possibility of expanding places for walks, meeting places, which are the maritime avenues“, explained the president.

“And that is what we wanted to do in Fasnia, where we have two different works that will be finished in the summer to give back, firstly to the residents of Fasnia and secondly to all the inhabitants of the island of Tenerife, a new and conditioned window to the sea, a place that of course belongs to all of us: our coast”, added Pedro Martín.

The president also indicated that in Las Eras the concrete blocks that will make up the new breakwater have already been manufactured and that they will begin to be placed within a month. Regarding Los Roques, he explained that the work has already passed its halfway point and is beginning with the laying of the pavement and the execution of a false tunnel that will be built to protect users from possible landslides.

The mayor of Fasnia, Luis Javier González, expressed his gratitude to the insular Institution, since “this corporation has decisively promoted the rehabilitation and renewal of the Fasnia coast.” He added that this breakwater “was about to break and that meant not only that the beach could not be used, but also that this wonderful corner of the municipality would be lost.”

For her part, the insular director of Tourism, Laura Castro, pointed out that more than two million euros will have been invested in both works. Regarding Las Eras, he pointed out that the new intervention “will not only facilitate accessibility and safety for bathers, but it is a very important point for diving on the island,” adding that these works “will contribute to the improvement of access to the water for athletes, to which must be added the great tourist impact that this sport currently has”.
