SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 17 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Punta del Hidalgo, located in the coastal area of the municipality of La Laguna, in Tenerife, has become the tenth, of the 16 diagnosed in the Archipelago, to sign the manifesto of adhesion to the Network of Tourist Areas of the Canary Islands of the Ecoáreas project hello.
On the occasion of the start of its activity, the motor group, in charge of the revitalization of this eco-area, has presented the documentaries ‘Ecoáreas Mar de Todos y Todas: the process in Punta del Hidalgo’ and ‘Strategic territory for sustainable and community tourism ‘, through which they want to publicize the importance, values and problems of this coastal area and involve citizens in their care and protection.
The event, which took place at the Punta del Hidalgo Citizen Center, was attended by the General Director of Tourism Planning and Promotion, Ciprián Rivas, and the General Director of Research and Coordination of Sustainable Development of the Vice-Ministry of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, David Padrón.
Ciprián Rivas highlighted the importance of the Ecoáreas Mardetodos project to promote socio-cultural participation and environmental values in this coastal space, which is part of the Macizo de Anaga Biosphere Reserve.
For his part, David Padrón has highlighted the involvement of the members of the driving group: “Ecoáreas Mardetodos is a project based on citizen participation, and the involvement of the driving group, which is in charge of proposing actions for the development and projection of This coastal area of the coast is essential.The premiere of the two documentary pieces is a reflection of this effort and a material of great value to explain through the neighbors who live in La Punta its uniqueness and the possibilities for its development sustainable”.
To the great landscape and environmental value of Punta del Hidalgo, where its beaches, natural pools and hiking trails of great tourist attraction stand out, are added the characteristics of this rural area full of agricultural crops and small palm groves that give a unique charm to the landscape.
The presentation of the two documentaries has had the collaboration of the La Laguna City Council, Fundación Mosaico Acción Social, Fundación Creasvi, CEIP Punta del Hidalgo, Transición Océano, La Punta-Bajamar Avanzado, the Cultural Association and the Sustainable Development project of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning. In addition, other entities have lent their support such as the Association of Neighbors, the Association of the Elderly, the Fishermen’s Association and the merchants of Punta del Hidalgo.
ABOUT MARDETODOS ECOAREAS
The Ecoáreas Mardetodos project, co-financed with FEDER funds, is an innovative initiative of the blue economy and a commitment of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands for sustainable and quality tourism, based on the conservation of natural and cultural heritage. .
Each eco-area is a recognition of an area of excellence in ecotourism sustainability that contemplates and analyzes environmental, socio-cultural, economic and local tourism aspects through 40 indicators in cooperation with the administrations.
Its development is based on the promotion of initiatives and objectives under the principles of participation through horizontal management. Currently, the Network of Eco-areas in the Canary Islands is in the process of incorporating 16 coastal spaces on the eight islands.
