SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, a center attached to the Ministry of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, has begun the selective process for the single call for local police officers in the Canary Islands, which has 639 registered applicants.
The first of the tests, which is taking place these days on the islands of Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Tenerife, and in the next two weeks in Gran Canaria and La Palma, is intended to check the physical abilities of the applicants. It includes, in order of execution, horizontal jump (1), push-ups on the bar (2), aerobic resistance -Cooper Test = 12 minutes- (3) and adaptation to the aquatic environment -50 meters freestyle- (4). Each of them has minimums that reflect whether the candidate is suitable or not suitable and also allow them to be ordered based on the scores obtained.
For its realization, sports-approved facilities have been sought in which competitions are held by the different federations, which unify the conditions of action of the applicants. Likewise, there is the collaboration of the College of Graduates in Physical Education of the Canary Islands, which provides accredited experts through specific training for different selection processes.
In case at any time there is a claim about the execution of the tests, a specialized company is recording, with several cameras, the actions of the applicants and, in this way, determine if the measurement made is correct or not.
In Fuerteventura, the test took place on February 13, at the Risco Prieto sports facilities and in the swimming pool of the Herbania Sports Club, in Puerto del Rosario. 15 people of the 22 registered showed up, 68%. In Lanzarote, it took place on February 14 and 15, at the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote and at the Parque Deportivo Municipal, in Arrecife. 57 of the 70 people registered showed up, 81%, a percentage that far exceeds the average of the processes carried out by the municipalities, which is between 60 and 70%.
Also in Tenerife, where there are 323 people registered, the first test is taking place these days, February 16, 17 and 18, at the Francisco Peraza de La Laguna Municipal Stadium and at the Los Cristianos-Jesús Domínguez “Grillo” Municipal Pool in Arona.
In Gran Canaria, with 214 applicants registered, the test will take place on February 27 and 28 and March 1, at the Ciudad Deportiva Gran Canaria in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, while in La Palma, where there are 10 people registered , will be held on March 3 at the Miraflores Sports City in Santa Cruz de La Palma.
