SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 17 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Since the last data update last Friday, the Canary Islands have registered a total of 170 new positives for covid-19 among people over 60 years of age, a population group that is being monitored after the acute phase of the pandemic, as reported by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The accumulated number of coronavirus cases in this group amounts to 109,438 people in the Islands. Thus, the Accumulated Incidence for this age group at fourteen days stands at 76.81 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at seven days at 32.75. Currently, in the Archipelago there are 46 people admitted for coronavirus, of which two are in the ICU and the rest, 44, on the ward.
On the other hand, in the last seven days the death of nine people has been registered, of which five took place in Tenerife, three in Gran Canaria and one in La Palma. All cases, with ages between 59 and 100 years, except those who had previous pathologies and were hospitalized.
The Ministry of Health reports that since August 12, and in compliance with the Resolution of August 5 of the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, the calculation of beds occupied by patients with covid-19 takes into account the number of beds occupied by patients presenting with pneumonia or acute respiratory infection or other pathology that is considered attributable to a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
