He Investigating Court Number 4 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has decided, after bringing three people allegedly related to the Mediator case — an anti-fraud operation that investigates the management of aid to food producers — to court, the release of three of the 12 arrested with precautionary measures, according to sources from the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TJSC).
These three people who have been released, and whose identity has not been provided by the courts, their passports have been withdrawn, they have been prohibited from leaving the national territory and they appeared apud minutes on days 1 and 15, since they were investigates for bribery, money laundering, forgery, belonging to a criminal organization and influence peddling.
As for the rest of the people arrested, they will go to court this Thursday.
Among those arrested this Tuesday in the framework of this investigation is the former General Director of Livestock Canary Islands and candidate of the PSOE to the mayor of Ancient (Fuerteventura), Taishet Fuentes; and the general of the Civil Guard Francisco Javier Espinosa Navas, a retired man who was in charge of the Las Palmas Command, for his alleged relationship with the crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, fraud and bribery, sources of the investigation have informed Europa Press.
They add that the alleged crimes that the detainees are charged with are limited to the years 2020 and 2021, when the retired general arrested this Tuesday was in charge of the GAR-SI Sahel project, in charge of training gendarmes in African countries.
