SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 15 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The third vice president and island councilor for Social Action of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Marián Franquet, announced Wednesday the imminent start of the works that were pending execution at the Guía de Isora socio-sanitary center for its opening and start-up.
Marián Franquet has advanced that tomorrow, Thursday, the act of rethinking the works will be signed, an administrative procedure that allows the work to begin. The project, which was awarded in January for almost 2 million euros, will enable 75 residential places for the elderly and another 20 daytime places in the southwestern region.
The island councilor wanted to recall that the building in which this new center for the elderly will be located lacks basic services due to deficiencies detected in the construction project approved by the previous island government. In this context, she pointed out that the drafting of the work project did not have the industrial part, which has prevented the center from providing essential services such as electricity or hot water.
The counselor stressed that when they arrived at the island government they found “multiple incidents of an urban and administrative nature” to which they had to “dedicate many hours to be able to unblock the Social Health Infrastructure Plan that in 2019 did not have a planning, despite have been approved for two years”.
For her part, the mayoress of Guía de Isora, Josefa Mesa, expressed her satisfaction because the Cabildo has managed to solve the problem that prevented the start of the works. “This is a much-needed residence, for which we have fought for a long time and that we know will be a great relief for many people in our municipality and the region,” she said.
Mesa, who was also councilor for Social Services in the Isorano municipality, recalled that the City Council had already ceded the land and carried out works before ceding the building in order to facilitate its creation and assured that the center “will improve the well-being of our elderly, not only because being closer to their environment and their families, but because of the infrastructure itself, located in a key place and which also benefits the services and economy of the municipality”.
Work will focus on regularizing the center’s facilities and providing it with the necessary equipment.
Specifically, the project includes equipping the center with all the necessary facilities for its start-up, related to electricity supply, fire protection, plumbing, sanitation, air conditioning or laundry services, among others. Legalize, according to the current regulations, the installations carried out in the previous phases of the project and provide the center with furniture (beds, bath chairs, transfer cranes, televisions) so that the elderly can reside in it and have facilities quality.
