SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 15 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The National Police, on the occasion of the celebration of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, will establish an extensive security device focused on guaranteeing the safety of citizens and that the festivities are celebrated without major incidents.
For the execution of this device, the National Police will have the collaboration of other security forces and bodies, such as the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Autonomous Police.
The National Police, in order to guarantee the safety of citizens and the normal development of the aforementioned festivities, will establish a security device in whose execution more than 600 national police officers belonging to different units will participate; Police intervention units, Prevention and Reaction Units, Underground, Canine Guides or helicopter of the Higher Police Headquarters of the Canary Islands, among them.
This device is divided into three different work areas. In the field of citizen security, the fundamental objective will be to prevent the commission of crimes and disturbances of public order to guarantee the normal development of the events that make up the chicharrero carnival and the safety of the attendees.
On the other hand, there will be specific work teams in the field of the Judicial Police, for the practice of first investigative steps that need to be carried out in situ. Finally, in accordance with the provisions of the anti-terrorist alert level decreed by the Ministry of the Interior, in this area the National Police team deployed will have the task of anti-terrorist prevention and protection.
Likewise, there will be a specific prevention service arranged by the National Police for maritime transport. Agents of the Mobile Brigade-Transport Police of the General Police Station for Citizen Security will control the routes between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria-Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Santa Cruz de Tenerife-La Palma.
