These are the Carnivals in Spain that you cannot miss

He Carnivalwhich this year will be held between the days February 16 and 22It is one of the most important weeks of the year for many, who even travel to experience it in one of the places where the celebration is most outstanding, unique and special.

In the following lines we review some of the main carnival destinations by excellence. Sites in which this week reaches a special magnitude and allows you to enjoy it in all its splendor.

Probably the most international Carnival of all those that are celebrated throughout the Spanish geography. The election of the Queen of these parties is quite an event, with the candidates wearing spectacular costumes, each one more colourful, brilliant and showy. The musicthe rhythm and joy are spread during those days in all corners of the island, in the closest thing to the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro that exists in our country.

2- The magical triangle of Ourense

In Galicia one of the most popular quotes is the “magic triangle” of Ourense that is formed by the Entroido de Xinzo de Limiawhich was declared in 2019 of International Tourist Interest, Verin’s and Laza’s. This carnival is characterized by being the most fun where ants, cloth full of mud and hairdressers doing his thing they become owners of the city during this party.

In addition, the streets of the city of Ourense are filled with brass bands and its main squares are enlivened with music, and you can see the most diverse and original costumes.

3- Carnival of Cádiz

If a Carnival is especially iconic of all those that take place in Spain, that is the one in Cadiz, the most differentiated and unique. The popular chirigotas, songs with biting and sharp messages, they are already a classic of these dates, and they cheer up everyone who passes by, either through its streets, or in the emblematic Official Contest of Groups in the Falla Theatre.

A party considered to be of International Tourist Interest, it has events that have already become a classic on these dates. Among the most prominent is the hatching (egg shells filled with confetti, producing a curious visual effect), the Release of the Mussona (a representative iconic character of the celebration), the paper costume contest and the Night Carnival.

The entire city of Badajoz is involved in the celebration of carnivals, becoming badajoz in a great party full of color and music, thanks to troupes that are considered some of the best in Spain. The Candlelight Festival It is one of the most anticipated events, with a tamborrada that delights those who love the noise of percussion. The festival has been declared of National Tourist Interest.

An authentic spectacle of color takes place at this party where everything revolves around the musical number that takes place on the stage of the Gala drag queen. It is one of the most historic carnivals in Spain, since its origins (with an obviously very different format from the current one) date back more than five centuries.
