The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Citizen Participation and Diversity area, will allocate a total of 95,000 euros this year to promote projects and different actions for the social and labor inclusion of the Roma people.
The president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, explained that specific actions will be developed for Roma women, to facilitate the continuity of studies and training in key skills that improve employability.
This was announced at the Insular Table of the Gypsy People, which has just held its first session of the year, a meeting that has been used to take stock of the actions carried out in terms of integration, care and prevention of the marginalization of Roma people, collect proposals and mark the work calendar for these coming months.
The Cabildo has allocated 100,000 euros between 2021 and 2022 to projects to promote the integration of Roma people on the Island and their development opportunities.
Pedro Martín highlighted that the constitution of the Roundtable responds to the Cabildo’s commitment to cooperation with the gypsy associative movement on the Island, “just as we have been doing with other groups to give voice to their demands and implement policies that respond to their reality and needs “, he added.
The CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, indicated that of the planned economic item, 60,000 euros are to subsidize social inclusion projects, 20,000 euros for actions aimed at Roma women and 15,000 euros for participation, awareness and visibility actions. , among other initiatives that are agreed upon at the Island Table.
Gugliotta valued the coordinated action between the different areas of government and representatives of the political groups of the Cabildo that make up the Board, together with associations and entities, to favor the participation of the Roma population in society, promote equal treatment and prevent discrimination.
Among the actions promoted, the CEO highlighted the Social Initiatives project for the active inclusion of citizens, to contribute to the empowerment of Roma women through training actions and complementary activities that favor their employability.
