If you are from Tenerife, you will know that one of the unmistakable signs that the Santa Cruz Carnival approaching the streets of the capital is the fencing of some areas to protect them from the arrival of thousands of people who will congregate in various areas of the city to celebrate the great chicharrera festival.
This Wednesday it was the turn of the central Plaza Weyler, which already has sealed and fenced spaces to prevent them from being affected, for example, the small gardens that it houses. It so happens that this is one of the enclaves of Santa Cruz with the greatest influx during the carnival festivities that will take place in the streets of the capital.
The first big night of Carnival in the street will be next Friday, February 17. A day in which the Announcing Parade will be held. As usual, costumes, laughter and drinks will flood areas such as Plaza Weyler itself, Plaza de España or Calle San José, among others, in the following days.
The End of Fiestas will take place on Sunday the 26th, and will feature performances by Nifu-Nifa and La Zarzuela, as well as a fireworks display.
