Eight applicants will compete this afternoon for the title of Carnival Queen of the Elderly, during a Gala that will be held at the Fairgrounds of the capital of Tenerife, starting at 5:30 p.m. A show that will be presented by Yanely Hernández.
As usual, the contest will be the framework for the celebration of the Festival of Groups of Seniors of the Chicharrero Carnival, an exhibition in which this year the formations Con Nuestra Gente Chincanayro, Antón Guanche, Grupo de la Tercera Edad de Tegueste, rondalla Las Nieves take part , Older than 2000, Home of the Pensioner Padre Anchieta, Montenevado and Teide Volcanoes.
The Gala jury is made up of Helena Sampedro González, journalist at Cadena Ser; Violeta Almenar García, superior pattern making technician, textile teacher and costume maker; Pedro Alejandro Cruz Perdomo, graduated in Fine Arts and painter; Mariam Moragas García Yanes, presenter of We are Fantastic People of Canarian Television, and Ana Seco Durán, plastic artist and fashion designer. María Vidal Conesa will act as secretary, with the assistance of the notary Isidoro González Barrios.
The performances of the singers Josefina Alemán and Pepe Benavente will complete a show that will be broadcast live by the cameras of Televisión Canaria.
The doors of the Fairgrounds will open to the public at 4:00 p.m. and you can enjoy the event through the invitations that will be distributed at the entrances.

The eight candidates for Queen of the Elderly are: Mª Soraya García Toste (1), with the fantasy dreams in february, designed by Antonio Santos and representing El Corte Mágico; Mª Julia Bello García (2), with fantasy Oh La La…!!!, designed by David Afonso and representing Turismo de Arona; Josefa Herrera Hernández (3), with fantasy Atlantis, designed by Alexis González and representing Paseo footwear and accessories and Comparsa Los Valleiros; Mª del Pilar Martín García (4), with fantasy Wanna Mambo, designed by Dailos López and representing Peña from CD Tenerife Los Tajinastes del Tete, Javier Sanfiel Abogado, Davenzo Joyeros and El Kilo stores; Sabina Coromoto Mendoza de Ortuño (5), with fantasy Walking by the sea, designed by Sedomir and representing Avanti Clinic; Asunción Mª Reyes González (6), with fantasy Moneiba, designed by the Nira Carnival Cultural Association and representing Malidente, MonVelle and Sinergico Global Consulting, SL; Mª Josefa Pérez González (7), with fantasy come with me one more nightdesigned by David Hernández and representing the City Council of El Sauzal, and América González González (8), with the fantasy Yearningdesigned by Alfonso Baute and representing the Town Hall of La Orotava.
