Becoming a queen of the chicharreras festivities not only means fulfilling a dream for her, but also for the whole family, especially for her great-grandfather Rosendo, who passed away last year, but who “always had the illusion of presenting her either to the May festivities or to Carnival Queen. And we had that illusion in the family. So this has been like a posthumous tribute that we are paying to her great-grandfather, to the illusion that she had, ”said Ione’s mother, Patricia Serna, who yesterday accompanied the girl throughout the tour of presentations.
Ione arrived calm and relaxed, somewhat tired, as she herself admitted, but “very happy” after becoming the new child Queen, something that was not expected: “They said the first lady-in-waiting and I calmed down and said: ‘Well, nothing’ . And suddenly they called my name and I didn’t expect it. I got very emotional.”
The new warbler stated that she had a “great time” during the gala. “I loved it, I felt very good, I didn’t feel overwhelmed or anything, I was very calm,” she said. So much so that she would like to repeat everything she could: “I wanted to present myself next year but since I am Queen I can’t.” So now she aspires, in a few years, to the next contest, “for the Adult Queen and then to the elderly”, even.
Asked what she would think if children were also present, she replied that it seemed “fine, so there is a King and Queen”.
And it is that Ione has very carnival roots. “Her grandparents were part of the Los Yuppies and Los Fregolinos group, so there is a carnival history. And I make and have made Carnival costumes. And the father and I love the usual Carnival. The girl is a carnival at heart, ”emphasized her mother.
In fact, it was the girl herself who asked to be a Carnival candidate. “Her best friend was going to present herself as a candidate in the South and then she wanted to and we looked for a way. I already knew Daniel and we got her to be a candidate, ”she explained. An experience in which the whole family has been involved: “Between the father and I and the grandparents we have been taking her to everything that was necessary, betting on her and her dream, in a hurry but well, we got to everything. And we are very happy.”
Patricia pointed out that Ione has lived the entire experience “very well, very excited and very professional, I see her as so small and so professional…”. Last night she did not believe that she had won, and “every five minutes she is saying: ‘But I’m Queen’ And this morning she went to buy the newspapers and said to the one in the store: ‘Look, it’s me,” her wife recounted with a laugh. mother.
“We always watched the children’s gala and now she and I will go to the adult to support Daniel, because he deserves it,” he emphasized.
The fantasy that Ione wore is called Dreaming with your eyes open and was designed by Daniel Pages, and, as she herself explained, “it’s a plane and I’m flying over a tree in Africa and the giraffes, because they are so tall, go over the tree and I am between them The birds are also flying.”

The designer added that “it occurred to me to make a fantasy, as she explained it, that it was a tree from which the necks of giraffes emerged. And the sponsors gave me carte blanche for the design. I had the idea in my head and, as we built, we added elements, so you don’t stick so much to what you have drawn and allows you to create another way. Once we already had the tree and the giraffes, we thought of making her a cabin, but when we met her we saw that she had more of an aviator profile”.
Ione indicated that she loved her fantasy and was impressed by how tall the giraffes were. “He named them all,” joked the designer. “And the birds,” the girl pointed out.
Daniel Pages had already achieved several children’s bridesmaids and this is his first solo child Queen, since, he explained, “in 2011 I did have one together with Eduardo Martín, the first time we participated.”
The designer also presents a candidate at the Adult Queen Election Gala and stated that “it would be a dream” to do a double and achieve both queens. “And this afternoon to keep dreaming”, working in the workshop to finish the last details of the fantasy for her adult candidate and in which Ione has said that she wants to help “finish the fantasy”, Daniel joked. And it is that, with a mother who works in clothing, Ione knows how to sew from a very young age. “When I was six years old, my mother taught me to sew,” she recounted.
Now, Ione is preparing to enjoy everything that comes before her as Queen, like the announcing procession, where she will participate from her float and “I will feel like the Three Wise Men”, she said, but also having fun like every girl in the Carnival of the street with his family, for which, he advanced, his mother was making him a Harley Quinn costume.
