That the Carnival knows no age is a fact that is fulfilled with the candidate for Queen of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Rosaura Begoña Pérez Marrero (Puerto de la Cruz, 1977), who presents herself with all the enthusiasm in the world at the Gala that will take place on February 15 at the Fairgrounds. The candidate from Porto will shine on stage The awakening of Coventina, the fantasy designed by the Creaciones de la Rosa group, made up of a team of more than twenty collaborators from the municipality of Los Realejos.

How did you come up with being a candidate for carnival queen?

“The process was very curious. My daughter is 11 years old and is the current Children’s Queen of the municipality of Los Realejos. Once her designer met us (we went for the Communion outfit), she fell in love with the girl. The first thing he proposed to her was to be his candidate for Los Realejos, but to her surprise that she had also fallen in love with her mother. After a year fighting behind me, she told me that she was her candidate for the carnival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife because Creaciones de la Rosa had bet on me. It was my daughter Aroa who told me the magic phrase for me to take the plunge: “Mom, every day you tell Besay and me. We have to chase our dreams, right? There is the key. It’s a dream I’ve had since I was little, since she was six years old playing at being Queen of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The truth is that I don’t believe I’m living this dream, and it’s never too late for anything”.

-How do you live these days before the Gala?

“I live it with tremendous enthusiasm. With a lot of desire to soak up everything that surrounds Carnival, to have more knowledge of what it means to be a candidate for Carnival Queen. All of this makes me very emotional.”

-What can you tell us about the fantasy that you are going to wear?

“It is worth it that it has stones and that it shines a lot… (laughs). So far I can say. It’s a surprise, and I hope everyone likes it. My wish is that they experience with me what I am experiencing on stage”.

– Do you see yourself with options to reign at the best carnival in the world?

“My main purpose is to be able to live the experience, because just being a candidate for Queen of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife I already consider it a dream. The reign or the Court of honor would be an added gift.

-What is your favorite thing about Carnivals?

“I like everything. I have participated in carnival groups and we have always gone to the arenas of different municipalities with a float. We have also participated in the one in Santa Cruz. The Carnival in my house is experienced from the first contest, which is the children’s contest, to the last act there is.

-In the draw, he was ranked 9th to show off his fantasy…

“The truth is that I had no predilection. I like 9 because it is the favorite number of my designer, Héctor de la Rosa. I consider it a good position, because I don’t have the nerves of the beginning, nor the concern to get out of the last”.

-Lastly, in the event that the Carnival Queen was proclaimed, to whom would you dedicate the title?

“Mainly to my children, because of them I am living this dream. To the Creaciones de la Rosa team, who are working day and night to make this fantasy come true. Also to my family, friends and to the north of Tenerife for the support and love they give me wherever I go”.
