The first prizes of Interpretation and Presentation in the contest of Musical Groups of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife fell to Caña Dulce and Chaxiraxi, respectively, during the contest held tonight at the Fairgrounds. Seven ensembles took part in the event, and in this order: Siboney, Nobleza Canaria, Caña Dulce, Teiderife, Sabor Isleño, Cantares Luz de Luna and Chaxiraxi.
The second prize in the interpretive section went to Chaxiraxi, while Sabor Isleño took third. The second prize in this category went to Cantares Luz de Luna.
Regarding Presentation, the second place went to Siboney and the third to Caña Dulce, while the second prize went to Sabor Isleño.
In addition, Siboney added the award for Best Unpublished Song with the theme Tiempo de Carnaval. And the best performance, with the theme New, York, New York, for the singer Jennifer Alonso, from Chaxiraxi.
Caña Dulce, under the direction of José Luis Alayón, performed in third place and they did so interpreting the songs Sonando están los tambores or I come to offer my heart, accompanied by a dance group that made their performance shine even more.
With this first prize, the group that rehearses in the Mercado de La Salud manages to prevail in the musical group contest for the fourth consecutive time.
As for Chaxiraxi, the design entitled Melodias de Broadway, by Gustavo Beníetez, was the one that earned them the first presentation prize.
