The first prizes for Interpretation and Presentation in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival Musical Groups contest went to Caña Dulce and Chaxiraxi, respectively, during the contest held tonight at the Fairgrounds. Seven ensembles took part in the event: Siboney, Nobleza Canaria, Caña Dulce, Teiderife, Sabor Isleño, Cantares Luz de Luna and Chaxiraxi.
The second prize in the interpretive section went to Chaxiraxi, while Sabor Isleño took third. The second prize in this category went to Cantares Luz de Luna. Regarding Presentation, the second place went to Siboney and the third to Caña Dulce, while the second prize went to Sabor Isleño. In addition, Siboney added the award for Best Unpublished Song with the song “Tiempo de Carnaval”. And the best performance, with the song “New, York, New York”, for the singer Jennifer Alonso, from Chaxiraxi.
The jury of the contest, in the Interpretation section, was made up of Nauzet Hernández Delgado, music producer and singer; Víctor Hugo Hernández Arencibia, graduate in percussion and professor at CAMGEM Hispano Inglés; Saray Rojas Talavera, teacher and choir director at the Güímar Municipal School of Music; Juan Antonio Domínguez Martín, director of the Municipal Band of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and Marcos Trujillo Díaz, composer and musical arranger.
In the Presentation chapter, the jury was made up of Pilar Blanco Altozano, plastic artist, professor of Fine Arts and member of the Association of Ceramists of Tenerife; María del Carmen Almenara Ramos, specialist fashion technician and textile artisan; Anamig Verónica Francis Amador, Carnival costume designer; Alicia Cruz García, a textile, clothing and leather teacher at the Las Indias Integrated Vocational Training Center, and Gonzalo Sabina Martín, a graduate in Fine Arts, plastic artist and drawing teacher.
