The University Hospital Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria puts out to tender the project to install the hemodialysis unit in the southern hospital. The new service, which will have 18 dialysis stations, will allow patients to be treated without having to transport them to Santa Cruz.
Now the term for the bidding of the preliminary project is open, a step prior to the subsequent technical project of the execution work of a unit that will depend on the Nephrology Service of the Hospital de La Candelaria.
The initiative will a budget of 49,000 euros and a three-month execution project, in which the company will undertake a specific architectural study for the creation of the specialized hospital area, in the space provided for this purpose. The functional plan will have 18 hemodialysis stations, 12 of which will be for chronic patients, three will be destined to receive treatment in isolation and another three for acute patients.
The new unit increases the portfolio of services of the Hospital del Sur and responds to the needs of patients in dialysis treatmentswhich will continue to be controlled by the La Candelaria Nephrology Service with the advantage of avoiding transfers to Santa Cruz.
Typically, hemodialysis sessions take place three days a week, so receiving treatment in the basic health area in the south of the island means an improvement in the quality of life of affected patients.
Likewise, patients with peritoneal dialysis, undergoing home treatment, will have closer care support for the removal of the material and medications necessary for their day-to-day life, as well as for the resolution of possible doubts or difficulties.
He Government of the Canary Islands and the Council of Tenerife signed the second part of the collaboration agreement last January to fit out a new building in El Mojón, the area where the Hospital del Sur is located, with more than 47,000 square meters of facilities.
The mayor of Arona, Jose Julian Menastressed then that “the portfolio of services will be closer and faster” The president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, pointed out that the hospital needs “more beds, an ICU and, especially, chemotherapy.”
The land for the future socio-sanitary center was also committed in the agreement with a budget of 40 million euros.
