The budget of Icod de los Vinos increases by 5.3% and exceeds 27 million euros

The Town Hall of Icod of the Wines will manage in the current year 2023 a budget that grows 5.34% compared to 2022 and that exceeds 27 million euros. The economic resources available have not stopped growing so far in Icod’s mandate, with constantly rising budgets: 21.4 million in 2019; almost 23 million in 2021; 25.7 million in 2022, and more than 27 million in 2023. For the Icodense mayor, Francis Gonzalez (CC)«the approval of the budget supposes having a document that gives continuity to the planned investment policy, social action and subsidies, educational and cultural policywhich will be improved with the incorporation of the budgetary modifications for extraordinary credit and credit supplement approved in the last quarter of the year 2022, after the liquidation of last year.

González points out thatIcod of the Wines It has been placed in the wagon of the municipalities that can be allowed, in accordance with the legal framework, to use the incorporation of the remainder for investments. In our case, this possibility is historical. The continuity in the suspension of tax rules for the financial year 2023 it will allow to continue, making use of the remaining treasury, to increase the items in investment and those destined to social action and the promotion of employment ».

Schools

The icodense budget also reflects “an extremely important investment policy in the educational field. Never before has so much been invested in schools through the ram works and through the routes of incorporation of remnant. Areas such as culture and sports, necessary to unite a society punished by the different crises, continue to be strengthened, going so far as to exceed, in these assumptions, the €3.3 million», González advances. Amount that may be reinforced with the incorporation of more remnants after the settlement of the 2022 financial year.

“Never has so much been invested in schools”

Francis González (CC) – Mayor of Icod de los Vinos

“Neither before had so much investment been allocated to the municipality, with more than 6 million euros, and all this with a budget that does not reflect an increase in taxes, “stresses the nationalist president. In addition, “they intend to maintain school aid, which they have already made available to families more than 650,000 eurosa figure that is also historical ».

For social action and subsidies for familiesnon-profit entities, sports clubs and cultural associations, the Icod de los Vinos City Council reserves €1.2 million. “An item that is also intended to increase with the aforementioned incorporation of the remainder, once the liquidation of the year 2022 has taken place,” he insists. Francis Gonzalez.

A year of investments

In the Icod City Council budget for 2023, investments are foreseen such as the creation of the new connection from the El Rodeo ravine to Tamonante and Mirabal Alto, which costs 280,000 euros; the conditioning of the park and recreational area of La Casilla, in Buen Paso, for 180,000 euros; the La Cruz del Camino children’s park, with 75,000 euros; the new leisure space of La Centinela, with 210,927 euros; the rehabilitation of the Cultural Center of Santa Bárbara, with an expense forecast of 228,625 euros; the improvement of the Las Granaderas cultural center and sports center, with 180,000 euros, or the rehabilitation of the Buen Paso sports center, endowed with 180,000 euros. The mayor of Icod, Francis González, stresses that 666,000 euros will be allocated to improve the water supply network. «Investments to which must be added the latest addition of the remaining treasury, approved in 2022, with actions such as the Llanito Perera Cultural Center (600,000 euros); the paddle tennis courts (490,000 euros) or the improvement of lighting (135,000 euros) », he details.

Regarding the employment promotion policy that is carried out in collaboration with other public administrations, such as the Canary Islands Employment Service (SCE)“are intended to initially allocate more than 500,000 euros», which will allow financing projects that give temporary work to local unemployed.

Waste and water collection

The public company Icodemsain charge of managing key services such as solid waste collection and water supply, among others, has 6,268,972 euros in 2023, an increase of 624,650 euros compared to 2022. “This will allow us to increase the services provided and deal with the increase in costs produced in the last year”, says González.

The other municipal company, Icodtesa, has almost 695,000 euros, «according to its action, investment and financing plan approved by its management council. This contribution comes from the municipal budget and will allow Icodtesa to maintain the usual activity and undertake various improvement works both in the dragon park as in the Municipal Pool, which are the facilities managed by this municipal entity.

Urbanism Management

The Town Planning Department of the Icod de los Vinos Town Hall It has its own budget of 831,000 euros, which will allow it to “follow the same line as the previous year, with resources destined mainly to provide this service with more staff and material resources, in addition to continuing to finance various actions and awareness projects regarding the environment and local sustainability.

Francis Gonzalez considers that one of the strengths of the last municipal budget of the 2019-2023 mandate is the amount of real investments that will be carried out this year with local funds, since it exceeds 6.5 million euros. A figure that, in addition, is expected to increase thanks to the future incorporations of the remainder to promote “even more investment that can be made after the liquidation of the 2022 financial year.”

At the moment, there are already very important items for relevant actions such as the improvement of various public roads, for which more than 2.5 million euros will be allocated. Or the 1.7 million euros that the Consistory of the City of Drago incorporated from the remainder last year 2022 and which will now be used to carry out the actions planned in the premises and roads of the nucleus of San Marco Beach. According to the mayor, “at present the bidding process for the drafting of the project has already begun, which will allow its subsequent execution.”

With a budget of more than 27 million euros for 2023, Icod de los Vinos Town Hall it doubles the budget it managed in 2001 and stands at more than 10 million euros above the 2013 or 2014 accounts. Or more than triples the resources available in years like 1995 or 1996.

6.2 million for Icodemsa

The municipal company Icodemsa, in charge of managing services such as waste collection or water supply, among others, has 6,268,972 euros this year.

2.5 million to improve roads

The accounts of the Consistory reserve a game of 2.5 million to improve public roads, an amount that includes what is included in the budget and the incorporation of the remainder.

1.7 million for Playa de San Marcos

The City Council incorporated 1,700,000 euros of the remainder to condition premises and roads of Playa de San Marcos. The bidding process to write the project has already begun.
