A plague of mosquitoes forced the closure of several rooms at the Hospital de La Candelaria, in Tenerife, for two days. Specifically, the affected spaces are in the north tower, although they were also detected in the room used by Internal Medicine doctors on duty and in some office.
Sources from the complex tell Europa Press that the situation has already returned to normal this Friday with the fumigation of the affected units, so that the patients who were referred have already been able to return to their rooms.
Although at first it was suspected that the detected specimens could be tiger mosquitoes, after the intervention of the Institute of Tropical Diseases it has been determined that they are common mosquitoes.
