The municipal environmental education program Los Realejos Go Green 2023 offers this year 40 activities among which are the calls forest bathing«a forestry therapeutic proposal, inspired by a japanese tradition which consists of inviting a relaxed walk through a forest ecosystem to promote connection with the environment with all the senses. Green spaces reduce stress levels, anxiety, insomnia and depressionin addition to reducing obesity, diabetes and blood pressure, it helps to improve the immune system, “explains the Realejero City Council.
The Rambla de Castro Nature Classroom once again coordinates this program which, after two years limited to the educational field by Covid-19, is once again open to all citizens. Mayor, Adolfo González (PP)remember that “twelve editions endorse this municipal environmental education program that has been a benchmark for the island.”
The first activities begin in February and can be consulted on the municipal website and social networks. The specific offer to educational centers with close valuesof thematic visits to natural spaces; birds in the centerbird watching; planting of canary plantwave Canarian Tree Week.
There will be visits to agricultural spaces; thematic workshops, such as the one on birds of prey in Canary Islands; routes interpreted by Anaga, Teno, the Teidethe Forest Crown, Barranco de Ruiz or Rambla de Castro, and a pilot experience: a guided tour in sign language. Also, an own environmental volunteer will be created.
