Enrique Arriaga has run as a candidate for Citizens (Cs) to the Mayor’s Office of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, as announced this Thursday through a statement.
“After much thought and sharing with those closest to me, I want to announce my decision to run as a candidate to head the list for Mayor. I hope and wish to have sufficient support from the affiliates that are part of the Chicharrera Local Assembly ”, he stated.
Arriaga thus opted for a work project that recovers the “shine” of the capital. “Once again – he added –, just as I did to lead the lists of the Cabildo in the current term, I submit to the will of the affiliates. I believe in the internal democracy of the parties and, without a doubt, the popular designation is the best of the options and the best definition of a liberal party”.
He also indicated that the objective that leads him to apply is the desire to once again turn Santa Cruz de Tenerife into the great capital of the Canary Islands. “A condition that we have lost due to the lack of leadership and drive of those who have governed us in the last 45 years,” he said.
For Arriaga, Santa Cruz needs a project that, “from experience and dedication”, can lead the change, “a change that allows our city to regain leadership without” complexes “and without” fear.
“There are no magic formulas that allow us to recover our leadership, just work, work and work. I can offer a lot about this, which is why I am taking a step forward and resolutely running to lead my party’s candidacy for the Santa Cruz City Council,” he concluded.
