The transformation of Calvario street, the main street of La Esperanza, begins

The work for the integral reform and embellishment of El Calvario street, the main entrance route to the urban center of the town of La Esperanza from the TF-24 main road, is already underway. This action, called Renovation and improvements in the water supply network, accessibility and equipment in El Calvario street, was awarded for 991,500 euros to the Temporary Union of Employment (UTE) formed by Canaragua Concesiones SAU and Constructora Lantigua e Hijo SL and has a work execution period of ten months. This is a major renovation and beautification project that will affect some 6,500 square meters of the main road in the administrative center of the municipality.

The mayor of The rosaryEscolástico Gil (IR-Verdes), advances that this work «It is the first phase of a much more ambitious project with which we will radically change the surroundings of the squares and the Adelantado forest and that it is already included in the budgets of the Autonomous Community». In this sense, the first mayor abounds that «the appearance of the historic center of La Esperanza will turn around; It will be a before and after”, while pointing out that “the action in El Calvario street will anticipate the new appearance that our urban center will have, where, once finished, the finishes or the furniture of the entire environment will already be reflected ».

with this performance El Calvario street will be improved along its entire length (approximately 650 meters), between the intersection with El Cascajal street and up to the junctions, inclusive, with Pedro Juan García Hernández streets and Plaza del Ayuntamiento. To this end, pedestrian routes will be promoted, giving preference to them, ordering the car parks, so that they do not create physical barriers and facilitating the mobility of pedestrians, especially those with reduced mobility. In addition to the general embellishment of the street, whose sidewalks and parking areas will be made with porphyry and granite pavements, there is the renewal of the water supply network and its provision of fire hydrants and hydrants, the execution of new pipelines of low tension and telecommunications that allow the burying of said networks and the reorganization and improvement of public lighting.

One of the main actions to be carried out has to do with the comprehensive renovation of the water supply network in this street, which has been designed in such a way that it allows the network to be divided into four independent zones without interrupting the service in its entirety. of the via rosariera In addition, it is anticipated installation of accessible furniture such as litter bins, conditioning of bus stops with canopies and planters located in specific areas where there is sufficient space available without hindering the itineraries.

Likewise, the work will prioritize improvements in terms of accessibility, with the incorporation of tactile paving indicators on sidewalks, and pedestrian itineraries, but without neglecting the parking needs in this downtown area of La Esperanza. In this sense, two continuous and uniform pedestrian itineraries will be executed along their entire length, without being abruptly reduced as is currently the case. In this way, there will always be an accessible pedestrian itinerary, removing all possible obstacles from the sidewalks such as columns with lighting, vertical signage, posts, etc.

flooring and furniture

The pavements of sidewalks and car parks will be carried out on the same level of the road and the free spaces that are generated between the car parks and the pedestrian crossings will be used to locate furniture, garden elements, litter bins…

Among other performances, intelligent pedestrian crossings will be made, through which the silk-screened road markings themselves will be illuminated on the road. As explained by the City Council, the execution of the pipelines for the low-voltage, public lighting and telecommunications installation is also planned, which will later allow the cables that are overhead and hanging from facades to be buried. Lastly, of the 36 existing luminaires, 42 will be replaced with LED technology, which will be relocated to their new location.

Finally, the demolition of the pavement of the central car parks located at the crossroads in the area of the Plaza del Consistorio Rosariero will be carried out, for the construction of a landscaped central island delimited by concrete curbs.
