Sebastián Martín will not attend the elections to be held on May 28. The mayor of Arico confirms that he will be absent from these elections and he explains his decision not with the argument of the well-known “personal issues”, but rather considers that “a cycle has been completed” in municipal politics and because “I feel that it is time for the most prepared generation possible to make its way, led by Víctor Garcia.” Both are the representatives of Primero Arico in the Consistory, a political formation that “did its job.”
Martín Pérez warns that there are still four months to complete the mandate and announces that projects and works will materialize in this period “And this municipal government will continue planning the Arico of the future.” will do it from a City Hall that he reached on November 25, 2019when the motion of censure that, with the Canary Islands Coalition (CC) and the Popular Party (PP), presented Primero Arico to the socialist Olivia Delgado, her government partner at the time, prospered.
But Sebastián Martín spent four years (the 2015-2019 term) in the opposition, after his election as councilor of Sí se Puede. «For 8 years we have been committed to improving the living conditions of the people of our municipality. Then Arico needed stability, unity and determination to face the necessary reforms», he reflects when confirming his decision not to aspire to renew the Mayor’s office. In a first balance, after four years in the opposition and a legislature as mayor, “I have lived firsthand, and in this Primero Arico has been key, the vindication of our historical debts and we have laid the first stone of an Arico that projects into the future without complexes, with dialogue and with more energy than ever».
in a better situation
Sebastián Martín maintains that the next government group will find a less complex panorama than the one he had to face three years and two months ago. «Today the City Council has budgets and a modern investment plan, which are covering dozens of works and services for our elderly, families in vulnerable situations and children. Little by little we are improving the quality of life of the middle and working class and recovering Arico’s leadership at all levels: business, social and political », he sums up.
From his analysis of the work carried out during the two terms in the Consistory, Sebastián Martín deduces that “there are many things to do and the lines are marked. But, with everything, I feel that it is time for the most prepared generation possible to make its way, led by Víctor García ».
Canarian Coalition
Sebastián Martín talks about the current third deputy mayor and councilor of Primero Arico –municipal political formation of which he is its general secretary– responsible for the areas of Local and Economic Development, Economy and Finance, Contracting and Tourism. Graduated in Journalism from the University of La Lagunadigital marketing advisor and social media manager, is already part of Coalition Canaria.
“After four years of management planning the real transformation of Arico, the time has come to unite experience and talent, as the engine of change that began in 2019, in the party that is most similar to our neighbors.” With this, he closes the chapter of Primero Arico, a party that “has met its objectives.”
Not having reached thirty years of age, Víctor García is clear that “young people are called to lead an unstoppable change in our municipality, we have to turn the page and lead the cultural, economic and emotional transition that is simmering in each family, in each company and in each neighborhood. With the example of our grandparents and the self-improvement morale of our parents, we are going for an Arico that grows without asking for permission », he points out as a premise.
Along these lines, the new member of CC claims that «Canary Coalition deserves to reap the fruits of an innovative and courageous mandate, led by a sensible and honest government that looks high and speaks low to achieve its objective: not a single family divided by politics. Because politics is there to transform and not to shout, to achieve the social changes that citizens need: territorial cohesion, digital transformation, sustainability and, especially, the strengthening of social rights and the revitalization of our economy.
