The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Citizen Participation and Diversity area, has brought together all the entities that work on the island with LGTBIQ+ groups to collect their proposals for actions to develop the LGTBIQ+ Island Strategic Framework.
The CEO of the area, Nauzet Gugliotta, pointed out that it is the document “that will mark the island policies of attention to diversity from 2023 to 2025, at this moment work is being done on the elaboration of its content and from the Cabildo we want to involve in this process to the different organizations of the associative fabric”.
The meeting brought together all the groups of the LGTBIQ+ Island Table in the La Esperanza camp, in El Rosario, and was coordinated by the Asociación LGBTI* Diversas Canarias. Nauzet Gugliotta indicated that the intention is for the document to be ready before the end of this mandate. “We have opted for the participatory elaboration of its content to guarantee that it responds to the true needs and problems of the LGTBIQ + groups,” he added.
The CEO announced that it is also planned to hold meetings with the two existing diversity policy networks on the island, Red Asterisk, made up of 14 town councils in the northern region and metropolitan area of Tenerife, and Red Prisma, of which 9 are part. municipalities of the southern region. In addition, it is intended to work with the island’s municipalities not associated with networks, “to define actions that have the maximum social participation,” he said.
For Nauzet Gugliotta, “this insular Strategic Framework will mean a step forward in the way of dealing with the reality lived by LGTBIQ+ individuals and families.” “We want to walk towards a social model that accompanies them in their personal development and in all spheres, social, labor and educational,” she emphasized.
“We are aware that it is a complex process in which we have to study the main contributions made by the various key agents, fit each of them into the framework of the competencies and study formulas to group them in the final document,” he added. the CEO, who valued the involvement and interest shown by groups and administrations in participating and being part of this entire document construction process.
