A new appointment with the theater in the Círculo de Amistad XII de Enero and a new appointment with ‘Las preciosas ridículas’. After the success achieved a few weeks ago, Recreo has scheduled a new performance of this work for Saturday, February 4, which will begin at 7:00 p.m., in the theater of the capital city. Tickets were sold out on the January 21 show, which has moved the Círculo and the theatrical group ‘Amistad’, directed by Gerardo Fuentes Pérez, to stage this piece again.

In January of last year, the 400th anniversary of the birth of the French playwright, actor and poet, Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, better known as Molière, was celebrated. The Círculo de Amistad XII de Enero, remembering this famous universal writer, invites us once again to enjoy one of his well-known and celebrated works, ‘Las preciosas ridículas’ or ‘Las damas afectadas’, a comedy that was released on November 18 from 1659, in the Petit Borbon Theater (Paris), which would be demolished six years later (1665).
This work does not offer, for example, the scale and scenic machinery of ‘The Miser’ or ‘The Doctor with a Beat’, although it is not without Molière’s characteristic dramaturgy. It is a minor work, but full of charm, fun, with a lot of color and movement, whose characters are authentic pedants, true examples to ridicule certain behaviors of the society of that time.

The ‘Amistad’ Theater Group, which is part of the cultural projects of the aforementioned Santa Cruz society, includes in its stage repertoire this work by Molière, a funny and entertaining piece that the actors have known how to pose and solve with great effort on stage .
