San Sebastian de La Gomera revealed yesterday the set of acts that will make up the program of the capital’s Carnival, dedicated to the 60s, and that will feature the return of the Puerto Rican singer Manny Manuelon piñata Saturday, twenty-five years after his mythical performance at the Fiestas Lustrales in 1998.
“A program designed for the enjoyment of all ages, agreed with the members of the Carnival commission and that is committed to preserving all those traditions that were falling into oblivion and that we have been recovering over the years,” said the mayor of the capital, Adasat Reyes.
“A carnival for the reunion in the streets and in which the neighbors will be able to enjoy five nights of dances to enjoy until well into the morning,” he added.
For her part, the Councilor for Fiestas, Vanesa Vizcaíno, thanked all the groups, characters, designers and members of the carnival table who, “year after year, with enormous effort and dedication, become the authentic spirit that gives life to these festivities”.
A program that will officially begin on Friday, February 10 with the presentation of children, seniors and adult applicants for the festivities on the porch of the Town Hall starting at 8:00 p.m.
On Saturday the 11th the fourth edition of the murgas festival will take place, which will be attended by murgas from La Gomera and guests. At its conclusion, turn for the dance enlivened by the Amanecer Latino Group and the dj Dailo Di Marco and Ronald Herrera.
The following appointments on the calendar will be for the Carnival galas, all of them to be held at the Municipal Audillón. In the case of children, it is scheduled for Sunday, February 12 from 6:30 p.m., while that of the adults will be on Thursday 16, at 8:00 p.m. Finally, the election of the adult will be on Friday the 17th, at 9:00 p.m.
The festivities in honor of Don Carnal will take to the streets on Saturday, February 18, with the great Carnival arena, while Monday the 20th will be dedicated to the always-awaited Talcum Powder Day, with the great Baile de Piñata in which the orchestras Gomera, Amanecer Latino, Wamampy and the stellar closing of the Puerto Rican Manny Manuel will perform.
