More for Arona is committed to rehabilitating the Casa del Mar, in Los Cristianos, as the new headquarters of the Center for the Elderly in this area. Dácil León, his candidate for Mayor, valued the execution and the need to promote this type of projects, and more so if one takes into account that Arona registers a fairly high number of older people who need specialized resources, adapted to their needs and to improve their quality, he points out.
He explained that with this measure “we are not only optimizing” an underused and deteriorated infrastructure, but “we can increase the number of places offered and even improve the conditions of access and accessibility” compared to the facility used by the elderly today.
The non-attached councilor recalled that in 2018, “with the insistent work of Elena Cabello and Pura Martín at the helm of Social Services and the Senior Area, the indefinite session of the property was achieved” by the central government. “This was an essential step not only to give this space an adequate set-up, but to provide the property with a purpose that mainly results in improving the quality of life of our neighbors.”

Lion recalled that in the ordinary plenary session corresponding to June 2021, “the colleagues of Más por Arona and the opposition councilors made a proposal to modify the credit of the remnants, decisive to provide an item of 80,000 euros in order to to allocate it to the drafting of the rehabilitation and improvement project of the aforementioned property, in order to house the Center for the Elderly of Los Cristianos and a day therapy center for people with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s”.
The councilor maintains that “from Más por Arona we carry out a constructive oppositionlistening, day by day, to all the requests, needs and proposals of our neighbors to find out what are the real demands that we must satisfy, which at this time are many,” he insisted.
