In response to historic neighborhood lawsuits, the Department of Works and Services of the Arico City Council undertakes the adaptation of El Capitán streets, in La Cisnera, with a budget of 42,746.48 euros; Las Flores, in El Río, with an expense of 23,772.84 euros; and Chajaña, in Icor, whose investment will be 41,675.17 euros. The latter is one of the most unique interventions because It represents a substantial improvement for the Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) that is the core of Icor.
These actions that will be developed in three nuclei of the Ariquera medianía are equivalent to the execution of the improvement and adaptation of three of the municipal thoroughfares with great influx in each of the neighborhoods. These works begin in the next few days and will require 108,194 euros of joint spending.
The Councilor for Works and Services, Juan José Armas, highlighted that “these three streets of La Cisnera, El Río and Icor required an adaptation of the road due to its level of deterioration”. the main requests and claims of the neighbors”. The first deputy mayor also clarifies that “these actions are part of a set of works that will be carried out in the coming months to ensure better and renewed infrastructure for the ariqueros and ariqueras,” added the mayor.
The Councilor for Contracting, Víctor García, remarked that “These works are possible thanks to the municipal Investment Plan. Concrete solutions that have been worked on in recent months and that will now be a reality”.
The local government highlights the intervention in Icor, BIC with the category of historical complex, a place in which the oldest of the houses that it houses were built in the 18th century, although some suffered with extensions and reforms in the carpentry dating from the 19th century. . The neighborhood suffers the consequences of its progressive depopulation and the consequent abandonment, although today it is recovered as a weekend destination.

Likewise, Arico awards for 41,097 euros the rehabilitation and maintenance of the pool of La Listada. In it, the adaptation of existing railings, steps, bins and wood will be carried out to guarantee greater safety for users. Juan José Armas pointed out that “work is being done to adapt the bathing areas of the municipality so that they are in good condition for the summer period.”
Víctor García, Councilor for Economy and Contracting, explained that “it is a work that the residents have been demanding for a long time and thanks to the approval of the Investment Plan we can carry it out, just as other coastal points such as El Porís or Punta de Abona”, he added.
This action adds to the adequacy of the surroundings of Los Prismas, in El Porís de Abona; the installation of new lighting points in El Bueno or the new niches and elevators in the municipal cemeteries. It should be remembered that the resurfacing of Benítez de Lugo, in Villa de Arico, and Lomo La Fuente street, in La Cisnera, have already been carried out, in addition to the recovery of the El Río Cultural Center, the improvement of the electrical network of the four municipal schools, the water supply in the El Cielo urbanization, in Tajao, the renovation of the electrical installations of the Arico schools, the installation of repair totems and bicycle parking lots in various points of the municipality, the adaptation of the pedestrian road and free space in Calle Las Conchas Marinas, in the neighborhood of La Caleta, and the rehabilitation of public spaces in various areas of Abades, among others.
