The Council of Tenerife and the Government of the Canary Islands Transfer procedures have startedr, for the next few monthsa total of 222 employees at the Social Care Institute of Sociosanitaria, regularizing the situation of these personnel who until now provided services in the IASS as delegated personnel. The objective of this process is to achieve, for this group of workers, equitable conditions with respect to the rest of the workforce.
After a meeting of the councils of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, the Vice Ministry of Public Administration and Transparency and the General Directorate of Public Function of the Government of the Canary Islands, it was agreed to start the process to transfer this staff, who in 2003 became part of the island corporations. Now, the entities have agreed to set up a technical working group to which the Ministry of Social Rights must be incorporated, an area to which this staff is attached, which will meet in order to make it a reality in the coming months.
Equal footing
The third vice-president and councilor for Social Action of the Tenerife Council, Marián Franquet, explains that “20 years ago the decree for the transfer of services, material means and resources in the field of social services was issued, which included these workers who, since then, have worked under different working conditions to those of the IASS own personnel, due to the differences in the agreements”. In this sense, he clarifies that they seek to guarantee issues such as productivity, health insurance or help for glasses to all workers of the Institute.
Franquet, clarifies that “from the two councils, We have made all our administrative and financial resources available to the Government of the Canary Islands to make this transfer a reality.”
For her part, the manager of the IASS, Yazmina León Martínez, considers it “fundamental that these employees enjoy social benefits, facilities and conditions equal to those of the rest of the workers of the IASS”.
It also details that “these 222 represent different profiles that are necessary for the operation of a social health center. From caregivers to doctors, psychologists, nurses or social workers will now become part of the IASS template”.
