SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 26 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesman for the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez, has supported this Thursday the decision of the central government to abolish the mandatory use of masks on public transport as of February 7 as a “sign of recovery of normality” after the pandemic .
In a press conference to give an account of the agreements of the Governing Council, he said that the measure coincides with the “desire” expressed for months by the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, due to the good evolution of the health indicators of the pandemic.
Pérez has insisted that this is “good news” although he has once again specified that some “precautions” that have been taken in recent months must continue to be maintained, such as extreme care in personal relationships, more “vigilance” in self-care and “avoid congestion” in health services.
By way of example, he said that this Thursday, given the symptoms of a catarrhal process, he has decided to carry out a covid-19 test before appearing before journalists.
