The PSOE of La Orotava considers it a “competitive disadvantage” not to attend FITUR, as Los Realejos or Puerto de La Cruz do

The Municipal Socialist Group in it City hall of the orotava will be interested in the next plenary session, which will take place on January 31, for the absence of official representation of the municipality in the recent International Tourism Fair (FITUR), the most important national event in the sector and one of the most relevant in Europe.

In this sense, the Socialists highlight the competitive disadvantage that this type of decision can generate with respect to other municipalities in the north of the Island that do attend this type of event, as is the case of The Realejos Y Cross port: “We must not forget that tourism is an important source of boost and diversification of the economy and La Orotava also has a lot at stake in this sector”, affirms the socialist councilor Víctor Luis.

The Socialists also point out that the municipality already has a Strategic Plan for a Sustainable Tourist Village “so that fairs like FITUR can function as a perfect framework to show our singularities and capture the attention of agencies and tour operators.”

At this point, the PSOE of La Orotava invites the Government Group to reassess its position of not attending events such as FITUR and other similar ones and take into consideration the benefits that it can bring to the Villa.
