The Council of Tenerife has taken into account the increase in the budget of the conditioning project in the Rojas promenadein El Sauzal, which goes from 165,472 euros to 427,548 that will finally be used for different actions that affect the improvement and better use of this coastal area.
The tender for this work was abandoned last year. For this reason, we have proceeded to update the prices of raw materials and materials for the project, and to modify the material of the solarium platforms and pergolas (which were made of steel and have been replaced by structural aluminum with anodization for a marine environment) to achieve greater durability, require insular sources.
The biggest problem with this action, framed within the protected area of the Acentejo cliffs, is accessibility and, therefore, it cannot be reached by large vehicles, which makes the work difficult.
In accordance with the project announced in July 2021, the actions contemplate small specific interventions along the promenade of the Rojas coast, such as the improvement of access to the sea, with the incorporation of a steel staircase, the adaptation of the solarium and shaded areas, as well as the shower equipment and the renovation of the signage.
In addition, it is expected to increase the security of the area, for which reason an action is contemplated to restrict access to the existing caves, delimiting it with ropes as a deterrent, given the danger of collapse.
The project will be on public display for 20 business days after its publication last Friday in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP). Once this period has expired, the file will continue its administrative process and it will be considered definitively approved if during that period no allegations or claims are made regarding its content.
The Sauzalero coastline, with crystal clear waters and natural pools of great beauty, offers several possibilities to enjoy a swim in the sea, among which is Rojas beach. However, it is an open sea bathing area, so special care must be taken and be aware of the force of the waves. It is usually a quiet beach with little traffic during most of the year, although in summer the influx of visitors is much greater.
