The Town Hall of La Orotavathrough its Department of the Environment and Climate Change, has presented the fifth edition of “Brushstrokes on the lava”, a program of eight thematic routes that will pass through emblematic points and protected natural spaces on the island of Tenerife and will be guided by a subject matter expert.

The mayor, Francisco Linares, has indicated in a statement that this project aims to bring citizens closer to the Network of Protected Natural Spaces of the island and “discover values” of each space, while raising awareness about “the need to protect them and keep them.”

The activity will take place between the months of February and May, and will have three tours of Anaga.

One of them will be with the interpreter guide Juanjo Suárez, another to climb volcanic chimneys with the sports coach Javier Martín-Carbajal and the third to visit the southern sector, the lesser-known face of the park, together with the geographer Airam Vera.

There will also be a tour of the Malpaís de la Rasca, together with the biologist Miguel Antonio Padrón; and a route through Isla Baja with the archaeologist Ithaisa Abreu.

Along with this, the biologist Marta López will take a walk through the Teno Rural Park and Ana Portero, a technician from the Department of Botany, Ecology and Plant Physiology of the University of La Laguna and Mila Ruiz, PhD in Fine Arts, will guide another through the Corona Forestal Natural Park.

The last tour will take place in Teno Alto together with the naturalist and ornithologist Felipe Siverio.

The number of places in each proposal is limited to 20, except in those of high difficulty, where they will be reduced to 15 places. Registration will be done through the website of the consistory.
