SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 21 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Loro Parque group has presented its claims for 2023 at the 43rd edition of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) in Madrid, including five new animal protection spaces in the Loro Parque zoo and the Poema del Mar aquarium and a new attraction in the water park Siam Park.
Among the novelties of the company, also made up of the Brunelli’s restaurant and the Hotel Botánico & The Oriental Spa Garden, key projects stand out, such as the inauguration of a new photovoltaic plant, which will make the group 100% energy self-sustainable.
In this way, Loro Parque plans to strengthen its position as an animal embassy, biodiversity conservation center and sustainable tourism group of reference. “Recovered from the pandemic and enormous losses, we present new attractions inaugurated in the last days of 2022 and new works for 2023”, announced the president and founder of Loro Parque, Wolfgang Kiessling.
The entity returns to this event after celebrating its 50-year history -in which they have achieved more than 54 million visitors- and recovering from the pandemic. The Hotel Botánico has achieved 100% occupancy on several occasions throughout 2022 and the three parks in the group have had excellent numbers of visitors, often exceeding 10,000 per day in Siam Park.
In March, Loro Parque will open the largest living coral reserve outside the ocean, a large 34-meter atoll with more than 16,000 animals including tropical fish and corals. This space is added to the recent opening of The Grotto, a dark and spectacular fruit bat cave, and Oceania, a large free-flying aviary that recreates Australia’s main habitats.
In addition, the Tenerife zoo, together with the Loro Parque Fundación, an international non-profit organization with which they have already managed to save a total of 12 species of parrots from extinction, will carry out more than 60 conservation actions around the globe. to continue preserving animal life.
Following the success of Siam Park in the past year, the water park will inaugurate a new attraction that will feature RocketBLAST water propulsion, the most powerful and efficient water ride technology on the market. This new attraction of the best water and theme park in the world, awarded by Tripadvisor, was born with the aim of following the path of excellence of the rest of the attractions, many of which have been awarded. For example, Shinga has received the European Star Award for the best water slide in Europe three times.
For its part, Poema del Mar will have new attractions: the new space for Goliath fish, with its 32 sharp teeth that have reached an astonishing size; all of this set with an outline that represents the natural stone jungle of Tsingy in Madagascar, where we can also find a representation of a Baobab with turtles and panther chameleons living in it. Added to this is the attraction Cuencas de África, with fish from the main rivers of the African continent, such as the giant freshwater puffer fish.
The Hotel Botánico & The Oriental Spa Garden also presents numerous novelties, such as the opening of the new La Parrilla restaurant, which expands the varied gastronomic offer of the establishment with the traditional flavor of Spanish food. In line with the rest of the group companies, investments will be made to improve energy efficiency. It is also worth noting the renovation of its rooms in order to adapt to the needs of today’s traveler.
Among the objectives for 2023, the Canarian group will also maintain its firm commitment to the environment. “To date, between photovoltaic and wind energy, we have a production capacity of 20MW. In 2023 we will exceed the energy consumed by the parks in green energy production, becoming a 100% energy self-sustainable company”, details Kiessling.
The Loro Parque delegation, made up of its president, Wolfgang Kiessling, vice-president, Christoph Kiessling, and Administration Director, Cybell Kiessling, among others, will be at Fitur until January 22, in an edition that expects to gather 200,000 visitors, achieving record attendance.
