“I can’t take my life anymore. I do not want to live anymore”, These are the words of a child Canary Islands, 13 years old, to her mother after more than two years of suffering bullying. A hell that does not stop and for which his mother, Sheila, decided to denounce to the media the situation of vulnerability and danger that this minor and the entire family are going through.

Sheila Sánchez, a resident of Tenerife, has been gaining visibility on social networks after denouncing a serious case of bullying and harassment that His son has been suffering in the last three years that have led him to have great consequences on a psychological and physical level. Despite the fact that the case has been transferred to the authorities, the woman assures that “they are turning their backs on her.”

At only 13 years old, it has already been 3 times that his mother had to change him to another school due to various attacks he suffered in each of them. In the first, two boys from his son’s class assaulted him and They threw him down the stairs, leaving him unconscious and with a 3-centimeter cave-in in his skull. which led to neurosurgery.

Although Sheila immediately reported what had happened to the Police and the school, they recommended that “since more than 2 children commit bullying, it was best to change the school.” And that did. Hoping to end the ordeal, on a small island like Tenerife and being the same environment, the situation was repeated. In the new center, the cousin of one of the other aggressors reproduced the same actions and they have been insulting him, harassing him and even painting his body with disqualifiers and obscene drawings.

But there is still more. After moving him for the third time to a new center where he finally began to feel better and more comfortable, these 12 and 14 year old boys found out where their victim lived and They have appeared several times at the door of his house to continue with the attacks that began in the classroom, but now in his own home.

After the violent episodes, the boy began to develop panic attacks, anxiety, depression, and even had two suicide attempts. Today the content creator’s son is under psychiatric treatment, pediatricians and medication but above all a great fear of going to school. It was the mother herself who exposed some crude and hopeless audios of the child begging his parents to stay at home and not having to go to school since he feels unprotected.

The Juvenile Prosecutor of Tenerife met with the young man’s mother last Wednesday, January 18, and has opened an investigation in this regard.

One in five children is bullied.

The most frequent symptoms that those who suffer bullying can present can be physical, but also mental: abdominal pain, sleep disorders, headache, fatigue, secondary neurosis, loss of appetite or weight, dizziness, vertigo, psychological symptoms, increased anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, decreased school performance… and in the worst case suicidal ideation.

Without a doubt, it is one of the reasons why minors suffer from mental health disorders. Most of this bullying occurs at school, although the rise of social networks means that bullying is transferred to the digital world, while lying in bed with the mobile phone.

Thus, administrations and educational centers have launched training programs prevention and action to respond to these cases. Classic insults such as calling someone who wears glasses ‘four eyes’ or colleagues with a few extra kilos ‘fat’ may seem like harmless comments, but they can embitter childhood or adolescence for those who feel singled out for not meeting beauty standards. that marks today’s society.
