Wind and sea storm this Thursday in the Canary Islands

The weather will be rough this Thursday in Canary Islandsaccording to the prediction to the Meteorology Statal Agency (Aemet). Aemet has announced yellow warnings for coastal phenomena and strong winds in Canary Islands for this Thursday and Friday morning.

With regard to Lanzarote, the Aemet has activated from 3:00 p.m. this Wednesday the yellow warning for coastal phenomena by combined north sea with waves of four meters. They wait gusts of wind from the northeast between 50 and 61 kilometers per hour (force 7) from 7:00 p.m. to night. In principle, the yellow warning for coastal phenomena will be in force until 5:59 p.m. on Friday.

The yellow warning for coastal phenomena will be active in Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria between 8:00 a.m. on Thursday and 5:59 p.m. on Friday.

In the east and west of La Palma, La Gomera, north of Tenerife and the metropolitan area of ​​Tenerife, The yellow warning for coastal phenomena will be extended between 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and 5:56 p.m. on Friday. In the case of the east, south and west of Tenerife, it will be active between midnight and 8:59 a.m. on Friday.

To this will be added the wind pre-alert for the entire Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands issued today by the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands and that it will be in force from 00:00 on Friday, January 20.

In Gran Canaria, La Gomera, El Hierro and Tenerife, winds from the northeast are expected, mainly affecting high areas and southeast and northwest slopes. In La Palma, wind from the northeast, especially in peaks and areas of El Paso and southeast and northwest slopes.

Regarding Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the forecast is for a moderate to strong wind, more intense during the second half of the day, especially in Lanzarote, with gusts of 60 kilometers per hour that can occasionally reach 70 kilometers per hour.

Weather for Thursday in the Canary Islands

The cloudy skies, the light and occasional rains in the north of the islands and the northeasterly winds up to 70 kilometers per hour will predominate this Thursday in the Canary Islands, according to Aemet, reports Efe.

Minimum temperatures with few changes and maximum temperatures in a slight decrease, which may be locally moderate in inland areas of the eastern slope. Moderate to strong northeast wind with probable locally very strong gusts in high areas, extreme northwest and southeast slope starting in the afternoon, without discarding them punctually during the rest of the day in said areas.
