Agents of the Civil Guard belonging to the Investigation Area of the Main Post of Playa de las Américas have arrested a 62-year-old man, a resident of the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, as the alleged perpetrator of two crimes of fraud by defrauding more than 2,500 euros by carrying out bogus home rentals
The criminal acts occurred when the defendant, taking advantage of his employment relationship with the real estate company in which he worked as maintenance personnel for the agency’s rental homes, which is why he had access to them, pretended to be a real estate agent.
Exercising this role, the defendant showed the homes to possible/future tenants, whom he defrauded, since once they visited the home and gave him the corresponding cash in each case, he made various excuses related to improvements to make the delivery. of the house soon; however, he subsequently disappeared and the victims never found him again.
He defrauded one of the victims of 1,800 euros as a deposit and two months’ rent for a house located in the urbanization of El Palmar, belonging to the municipality of Arona, and another 800 euros as a deposit for a house located in the town of The Christians.
Due to the complaints presented by these people, the Civil Guard agents began an investigation, thanks to which they gathered sufficient evidence that allowed them to clarify the criminal acts, as well as to identify, locate and arrest the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of fraud. .
The detainee, together with the proceedings, has been placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court of Arona.
