The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands The first phase of the improvement of the student residence of Tacoronte Agricultural Training School. With an investment of about 400,000 eurosthe General Directorate of Agriculture has renewed 24 of the 44 seats of this resource designed to accommodate students from remote municipalities and other islands.
The intervention has consisted of the comprehensive reform of the rooms and bathrooms in the west module of the residence, as well as the construction of their own bathrooms in each of the double rooms, which allows for more comfortable work spaces for the students. The second phase of the work that provides for the reform of the remaining 20 squares.

Alice Vanoostende He highlighted that “we have improved not only the common facilities, but also the school residence, which makes it easier for young people from remote municipalities or non-capital islands to have a greater opportunity to train in this school, improving and modernizing the rooms and offering them all the services they need”.
The counselor highlighted “the importance of training as a fundamental pillar to guarantee the future of the primary sector. For this reason we have invested since the beginning of the mandate more than 3.5 million euros to improve training centerswhere nearly 700 students study every year in the different vocational training modules».
“The Tacoronte Agricultural School it required a comprehensive update because it is an installation from the 60s that has to adapt to the new circumstances”, concluded Alicia Vanoostende.
The Tacoronte Agricultural Training School, founded 54 years ago by the Island Council of Tenerife, occupies some 17 hectares of land in the Guayonge area. Some 200 students from the islands study in its classrooms, orchards, greenhouses, corrals and laboratories, receiving comprehensive training from around thirty teachers.
