Tenerife attends Fitur with a number of reservations of 4.2 million places in winter

Tenerife will attend the Fitur 2023 International Tourism Fair, with a number of reservations in winter of 4.2 million regular places and with a forecast of regular capacity for the summer of 5,362,997 seats, 8% more than in 2019.

It’s a statement, the president of the council, Peter Martinhas highlighted the “leadership” of the island, “which has established itself as the first destination for Canary Islandsconcentrating 38% of the passengers of the archipelago. The island also has 41% of the market share of national travelers.”

He also highlighted that Tenerife currently connects with 29 markets through 141 air routes operated by 63 companies.

In addition, he advanced that “in 2022 the island managed to recover 98% of foreign air traffic and 96% of the peninsular, with a total of 8.1 million passengers.”

Martín highlighted here “the effort made in recent years to improve the connectivity of the destination, recovering and incorporating new markets, in addition to the work to promote the greater arrival of quality tourism that generates a greater economic impact on the island.”

Continue with the diversification of the destination

For her part, the island director Laura Castro, explained that “Tenerife is present at Fitur with the aim of continuing to work on the diversification of the destination, to strengthen digital and sustainable tourism development, to promote the national market and to have direct dialogue with the main operators in the sector to reach agreements that benefit the island”.

Regarding the national market, he pointed out that there are currently 2,591,594 seats contracted, which is 4,018 more seats than Tenerife had in 2019.

“One of our main tasks this year at Fitur is to consolidate the recovery of the national market, our second most important market, for which we have scheduled an intensive agenda of meetings with the main tour operators,” he said.

Average spending rises 21.4%

Meanwhile, the CEO of Tenerife Tourism, David Pérez, emphasized the average spending per tourist on the island, which has increased by 21.4% compared to 2019, which is 4 points more than the average for the Canary Islands. .

“Figures -he continued– that show that the intense promotion that we have carried out on the different attributes and strengths of the destination is already bearing fruit. We are attracting different tourist profiles based on this multi-experience offer, which contributes to the strengthening of the local tourist fabric and favors a fairer distribution of wealth, since those who visit us are increasingly opting for the enormous range of activities that our destination offers”.

More than twenty meetings in Fitur

All in all, at Fitur, the Tenerife delegation will hold more than twenty meetings with international and national tour operators, with airlines and tour operators such as TAP Portugal, Vueling, United Airlines, Air Europa, Iberia Express, Jet2, Swiss, Volotea, Viasale, or Edelweiss-Zurich.

In addition, meetings will be held with the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV), the CEAV of Andalusia and the DIT Gestión group. The island will have a space at the Canary Islands stand and will support the traditional space of the Association of Tourist Municipalities.
