Dácil León Reverón has been chosen as a candidate for the Mayor of Arona for the next municipal elections in May with the new formation politics More for Arona. León is one of the seven councilors who left the PSOE after a dispute with the mayor, José Julián Mena. She even came to be proposed by the socialists to replace him as leader in Arona.
This party that opens its candidacy in the municipality is also made up of other colleagues who followed in the wake of León in the first months of 2021: Puri Martín, Yurena García, Elena Cabello, Luis García, José Luis Gómez and Sebastián Roque. “The experience of this great team in human quality and management capacity”, according to Dácil León, who ensures that Más por Arona begins its journey “knowing to a large extent what to do and, also, what not to do” to achieve a City Council “more agile and efficient, closer to the public, fairer and more transparent.”
Dácil León’s candidacy has been unanimously supported by both the local committee that proposed it and by the assembly that gives supporters a voice and vote. For the candidate, the appointment entails “an immense responsibility” that, however, is compensated “with the privilege” of leading a project so full of good people and great ideas, a sincere desire to work in this municipality and hope in a much better government and City Council, capable of leaving behind the decadent drift of the current government.
Dácil León is 47 years old and is the mother of a 19-year-old son and a 16-year-old daughter. She has a degree in Political Science from the Complutense University of Madrid and works in banking. A native of Valle de San Lorenzo, León has been deputy mayor of the Arona City Council between 2015 and 2021, and has managed the areas of Finance, Employment, Economic Promotion and Primary Sector. Since January 2021, she has been a councilor not attached to the opposition due to the conflict with Mena. The candidate alluded to the work she shared with the current mayor, denouncing that they were not allowed to “work freely and independently”, nor carry out “the projects that we would have wanted” due to what she considers “boycotts and brakes” by Mena himself towards its management. She ended her intervention by expressing the conviction of her and the rest of her team “that this game will bring hope. And she advanced that shortly she will announce news that, without a doubt, will contribute to reinforcing the neighborhood illusion in Más por Arona ».
«It is a pride to be part of a new political project that excites and receives the valuable support, trust and collaboration of so many good aroneras and aroneros like those who have met at our headquarters and like those that I know will be joining this training as they learn about our proposals and commitments”, remarked the candidate for Mayor.
