The local government of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the residents of the san sebastian avenue have agreed to keep the name of this road, which had been renamed del Sports Club Tenerifea denomination that will be limited to the pedestrian spaces and squares adjacent to the stadium.
The parties have also agreed that “in no case” will the name of the streets surrounding the sports venue be changed, such as Heliodoro Rodríguez López or La Mutine.
In a statement, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council reports on the agreement reached this Friday between the mayor, José Maunel Bermúdez, and the councilors of Sports, Alicia Cebrián, and of the Health-La Salle district, Carlos Tarife, and the residents of San Sebastian avenue.
Bermúdez explains that this agreement, which has been communicated to the president of CD Tenerife, Paulino Rivero, will be formalized when the corporation receives the request “in writing”, at which time “the request will be substantiated and can be made effective”.
He emphasizes that this decision “is the result of dialogue and the clear intention to reconcile the neighborhood demand so that the name change does not represent a problem and the intention to honor the representative team.”
“When there is an intention to reach agreements, people and institutions end up understanding each other,” he adds.
It was last September when the change of name of this central avenue was made official in an act chaired by Bermúdez himself and by the former president of Tenerife, Miguel Concepción, and attended by the coach of the blue and white team, Luis Miguel Ramis, and the captains Aitor Sanz and Carlos Ruiz.
