The Tenerife tram reinforces the service at peak hours from Monday due to the increase in demand

The Metrotenerife tram service, a transport company of the Cabildo de Tenerife, will operate from this Monday, January 16, with frequencies of less than 5 minutes during the morning and midday rush hours on weekdays.

This measure is planned due to the increase in the number of travelers due to the free rate, which will be applied from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., explains the Cabildo.

The insular Mobility Councilor and president of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga, details that “in this way, the service between Intercambiador and Trinidad will operate with frequencies that will oscillate between 4 and 5 minutes, while Line 2 will provide service every 9 minutes” .

Arriaga also affirms that “although it may seem like a small change, these reinforcements will increase the number of trams in circulation and there will be a total of 21 vehicles operating simultaneously on the railway line.”

Metrotenerife recalls that the current 100% discount on tickets to travel on buses and trams only applies to customers who frequently use these public transports, and for which they must be holders of the Canarian Resident voucher or the Joven monthly passes , Senior and People with Disabilities.

Passengers who already have one of these tickets will be able to renew it and access this free of charge as long as they have made at least 15 trips in the previous 30 days.

New users will be able to acquire them free of charge, by registering in the application www.tenmas.esand subsequently comply with this requirement of 15 trips for the subsequent renewal, so that they can continue to enjoy free.
