
La Villa de Tegueste ended 2022 with 878 unemployed people, 1.6% less than in December of the previous year, which recorded 892 unemployed. Unemployment fell in Tegueste, compared to November by 3%, adding a total of 387 unemployed men and 491 women. The annual variation of unemployment with respect to people aged 25 and 45 stands out. According to data from the Observatory of Employment of Canary IslandsTegueste has 298 unemployed people of that age group, 3.6% less than last year.
16% of unemployed people in Tegueste are in the commerce sector, 10% in construction, 9% in hospitality, 7% in industry and 3% in the primary sector. The remaining 56% of unemployed correspond to other services. The mayoress, Ana Rosa Mena, celebrates the data and hopes that the new year “brings an increase in hiring.” “We will continue betting, from the different areas of government, on the professionalization and training of unemployed people,” she concluded.
