The Investigating Court that was on Duty last week agreed to the provisional detention order for the alleged perpetrator of a sexual assault on a woman committed in the Olympo building, in the center of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the early morning of January 4. The defendant is a 25-year-old young man of Moroccan nationality who arrived days before, on December 31, in a small boat to Lanzarote and who at the time of the events was in the center of Las Raíces, in La Laguna. , being a migrant in an irregular situation in the country.
According to the information offered by the Communication Office of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC), the aforementioned individual was sent to jail as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of sexual assault, robbery with violence, injuries and threatenedace. The victim is a 60-year-old citizen, who suffered serious injuries, not only from the rape, but from the blows received, especially to her face, by the young man.
The woman was going to access her office at 6:50 a.m. to start her workday. The individual approached her in one of the common areas of the complex and then pushed her into the premises, where he, after giving her several violent blows, sexually assaulted her vaginally and anally. Several witnesses were the ones who first helped the affected woman until the aforementioned building was attended by agents of the National Police and health personnel from an ambulance. The officials of the security body persecuted the alleged perpetrator and, with the description offered by the witnesses of the event, they were able to catch him.
In addition, allegedly the events were recorded by security cameras in the area where the rape took place. The woman was left with a disfigured face, due to the injuries suffered. The technicians from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) assisted the affected person at the scene and then proceeded to transfer her to the Emergency area of a hospital in Santa Cruz.
