SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 10 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The plenary session of the Adeje city council, in its extraordinary session on Tuesday, January 10, and unanimously by all the political groups, has decreed a day of mourning in the municipality for the sexist murder of Hayate, a resident of the Armeñime neighborhood.

The official mourning began today at 12:00 noon until 12:00 this Wednesday with the suspension of all recreational activities as well as the Leisure and Free Time Campaign, which affects all sports, musical and cultural modalities organized by the consistory .

Additionally, flags are flown at half mast at all municipal buildings.

The mayor has conveyed “a unanimous and forceful message of rejection of any type of violence, especially that exercised towards women.”

In just 10 days of 2023, four sexist murders have already taken place in Spain, which is why we must insist on the “most energetic rejection and condemnation and send all institutional and social support to the victims and their families,” he indicated.

In this case, especially, to the four minors “affected by the loss of their mother.”

The proposal taken to full cites that “violence against women is a serious violation of Human Rights, being murder the most unfortunate expression of machismo and a social problem of the first order that threatens dignity and physical and moral integrity of the women who suffer it”.

Rodríguez Fraga has conveyed his solidarity and condolences to the entire Armeñime neighborhood, as well as family and friends of the victim, and has stressed the importance and commitment to “deepen on all equality policies to solve this difficult problem and to be able to eradicate violence against women in society”.

After the plenary session, the municipal corporation accompanied by the staff of the City Council and citizens, have maintained a minute of silence called throughout the Canary Islands, as an expression of rejection of Hayate’s sexist murder.
