The City Hall of Los Realejos announces the start this week of works on rehabilitation and improvement of two roads in Icod el Alto: El Calvario street and Donkey alley. The mayor, Adolfo González (PP), recently visited both roads, together with the area councillors, Alexis Hernández and Olga Jorge, to coordinate the start of the execution of these works included in the current Neighborhood Plan.
As reported by Adolfo González, “this work, which has been awarded for an amount of 199,000 euros, contemplates the resurfacing of the road on these two roads, as well as the replacement of the existing sidewalk in the north side of El Calvario street, in addition to the pertinent pipes for drinking water, sanitation, rainwater and telecommunications.
An outdated network
The project includes the implementation of a new drinking water supply network, given that the current one is obsolete and has certain deficiencies, including connection, passage and distribution manholes with their corresponding valves. In addition, the rainwater collection network will be intervened to facilitate the evacuation of these waters with a reorganization of the scuppers, improving the existing ones and placing others with a greater capacity, with spillage towards the nearby El Dornajo ravine.
The action is also used to provide the pertinent telecommunications network consisting of a pipeline buried under the road and sidewalk “protected with concrete with its manholes.”
The Neighborhood Plan of the Los Realejos City Council also provides for the start on this Monday of the resurfacing works and implementation of the rainwater network and water supply in Siete Fuentes street, the first section of El Mar street and La Gordejuela street, in the center of San Agustín, which will put an end to runoff and flooding that affected this area on rainy days intense. They will cost 334,000 euros and will last about 50 business days.
