552 people with disabilities achieve job placement in 2022

The Island Society for the Promotion of Persons with Disabilities (Sinpromi) provided 552 contracts for this segment of the population last year. 46% of the contracts (257) were promoted through the programs of job and corresponded to people with severe disabilities. This figure represents an increase of 4% compared to the contracts formalized during the 2021 financial year, through the different employment programs in which the island company participates.

Marián Franquet, insular councilor of Social Action, highlights the result of the work of the Cabildo de Tenerife to “facilitate quality employment for people with the greatest difficulties”. Along these lines, he claims that this “guarantees their access to a fundamental and key right for their personal development and autonomy.”

46% of the 552 contracts, totaling some 257, have allowed people with severe disabilities to join a job, that is, those who have special support needs.

The third vice president of the Island Corporation also highlights “the value that, beyond the figure, these data have.” Franquet highlights that this relevance is marked because it means “advancing in the full integration of people with disabilities and continuing to progress in the Cabildo’s commitment to the labor inclusion of people with the greatest difficulties”, among which are “people with disabilities intellectual disorder and severe mental disorder, through specific methodologies such as Supported Employment, applied by Sinpromi».

There were 220 companies, especially in the services and hospitality sector, that last year hired people with disabilities through Sinpromi, with the most offered positions being those related to administrative staff, cleaning, gardening, driving vehicles, warehouse staff and assistants. waiter, dining room and kitchen, among others

Sinpromi highlights the significant increase in permanent contracts, which reached 26% compared to 3% in 2021. Women signed 47% of the contracts, compared to 53% hiring men.

Through the entity’s Labor Integration area, 927 job seekers had the opportunity to attend at least one job interview during the last year.

pioneering actions

The Insular Society for the Promotion of People with Disabilities (Sinpromi) has been a pioneer entity in the development of programs to facilitate the access of people with disabilities to the ordinary labor market, perfecting intermediation methodologies and influencing those people with special difficulties insertion, through Supported Employment.

This methodology is based on the incorporation of the person to work, together with specialized technical personnel from Sinpromi, who accompany and teach the tasks of the position. This professional figure provides support during the adaptation process and remains with the employee for the necessary time, to ensure proper performance of the job. In addition, Sinpromi carries out monitoring, which continues throughout their working life.

Access to employment is one of Sinpromi’s most complex and priority commitments to promote the personal development and full inclusion of people with disabilities, promoting equal opportunities and diversity in work teams as fundamental values towards economic progress. and community social.

In this sense, the island company carries out awareness actions aimed at companies, launching initiatives, meetings, conferences, talks and distinctions in terms of labor inclusion, with special attention to access to employment for people with severe disabilities and special integration difficulties.

Marián Franquet argues that “if Sinpromi makes sense as a public company for something, it is because it provides quality employment for people with disabilities, thereby guaranteeing their access to a fundamental right that is key to promoting their personal development and autonomy,” says the counselor, who emphasizes “the value that the inclusion of diversity and talent brings to company workforces”.
